Notice of Data Security Incident

Bethany Lutheran Homes, Inc. (“Bethany”) is providing notice of a data security incident that may have involved personal information about some of its residents and employees. Bethany is a benevolent continuum of care retirement community with various facilities designed to meet the housing and care needs of the elderly.

What Happened:

On June 13, 2026, Bethany discovered suspicious activity on its systems. Bethany promptly started its incident response process, began an investigation, and hired independent computer forensic specialists to assist. On July 9, 2026, Bethany determined that information about some of its residents and employees may have been impacted. Bethany is reviewing the data to identify any personal information involved and will notify affected individuals as soon as that review is complete. At this time, Bethany has no indication that any personal information has been misused.

What We Are Doing:

Bethany has taken steps to help prevent a similar incident from happening in the future, including by reviewing its existing security controls and adding additional controls to improve its cybersecurity posture. Bethany will mail letters to affected individuals for whom contact information is available with more information about the incident and steps that can be taken to help protect themselves.

What You Can Do:

Individuals should stay alert for possible identity theft or fraud by reviewing bank accounts, other financial statements, and credit reports for suspicious activity. If you believe you are the victim of identity theft, you should report it to law enforcement or your state attorney general. The Federal Trade Commission provides recommendations on identity theft protection, including how to place a fraud alert or security freeze on a credit file, at www.identitytheft.gov.
